Norway Savings, SIS Bank & People’s United make hires

NEW HIRES
Norway Savings Bank hired Shawn Baldwin to manage its special assets department. Baldwin has 18 years of banking experience, including overseeing nonperforming commercial loans and handling relationship, portfolio and risk-management responsibilities.

SIS Bank hired Michael Morel as vice president of cash management and treasury services officer.
Morel has close to two decades of experience in the banking industry, including executive positions in retail commercial banking and business development. He previously served as vice president – regional sales executive for Radius Bank of Boston.

People’s United Bank N.A. in Portland hired Jodi Watson as vice president and wealth management officer. Watson has more than 15 years of banking and wealth management experience at banks such as Key Bank and Bank of America.

Courtney Brown joined Cardente Real Estate as a graphic designer and marketing director. Brown graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 2016. She previously worked as a digital assistant, marketing strategist, product photographer and social media administrator for companies throughout the state.

Jeremy Lock and Jacqueline Nedwell joined Portside Real Estate Group.
Lock, of Portland, was hired as a broker. He has 15 years of experience in real estate and homebuilding. He previously worked for a top real estate team in southern Maine.

 

Nedwell, of Cape Elizabeth, joined as an associate broker. She previously renovated and designed homes, offering knowledge and expertise to clients looking to buy or sell homes.

NEW HIRES
Murray Plumb & Murray expanded its bankruptcy practice with its new partner, Andrew Helman.
Helman, of Freeport, brings experience working in some of the most significant Chapter 11 cases in Maine and New Hampshire. Most recently, he was an associate at Marcus Clegg.

Fulton Rice has joined Alan R. Atkins & Associates as an associate attorney. Rice was a legal assistant and paralegal at the firm before being sworn in as an attorney on May 4. He is a 2016 graduate of the University of Maine School of Law.

Anna Polko Clark has joined Lambert Coffin as an associate attorney. Clark brings extensive experience to the firm. She previously represented clients in trust and estate planning, probate administration, and probate and civil litigation.

Drummond Woodsum hired Laura O’Neill as an associate attorney in its school and local government practice group. O’Neill’s practice will focus on special education and general school law questions. She previously served as a staff attorney to the Oakland Unified School District and as a school law consultant to the California School Boards Association.

AWARDS and RECOGNITIONS

The James M. Roux Fellow for 2018 was awarded to Scott Dolan, a student at the University of Maine School of Law in Portland.
The Maine Justice Foundation’s James M. Roux Fund will provide support for Dolan while he works as a legal intern at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic this summer.
He is currently a student attorney at the legal clinic, which offers an opportunity for law students to provide legal assistance, under close faculty supervision, to low-income Maine residents with a variety of civil, juvenile, administrative, immigration and criminal matters.
Dolan entered law school in 2016 after a distinguished career as a reporter and editor. Most recently, he was a reporter at the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram covering the courts, prisons and legal affairs.
He lives in South Portland with his wife and children.

Clark named Fellow by the American College of Psychiatrists

AWARDS and RECOGNITIONS
Gordon Clark, MD, MDiv was elected as a Fellow by the American College of Psychiatrists.
Dr. Clark is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He was the founding president of the American Association of Community Psychiatrists, and works part-time in his private practice, SelectPsych, LLC, in Yarmouth.

Humor columnist Kathy Eliscu received her second National Society of Newspaper Columnists award for humor.
Eliscu was recognized for her column, “Lightly Roasted,” which appears in My Generation Maine Magazine. Eliscu is a long-time columnist for various publications, a retired registered nurse, and author of humor novel Not Even Dark Chocolate Can Fix This Mess.

Verrill Dana attorney James Goggin was recognized as IP Star for Managing Intellectual Property.
Goggin has more than 35 years of experience litigating and trying jury cases nationwide in the intellectual property area, including trademark, broadcast licensing fee agreements, copyright infringements, trade secrets and patent litigation.

The Maine Small Business Development Centers named Peter Harriman as the 2018 State Star.
Harriman is a certified business advisor at the Maine SBDC at University of Southern Maine in Portland.

SCORE honored 10 Maine businesses.
Rachel Knight, founder of Destination Occupation, was recognized with the Woman-Owned Small Business award.
Charlie Melhus, Erika Melhus and Brenda Melhus, founders of Norway Brewing Company, were recognized with the Green Small Business award.
Elise and Frank Ferrel, founders of Zen Bear Honey Teas in Bath, won the Encore award for entrepreneurs over 50.
Diane Cyr, founder of the Biddeford Cultural and Heritage Center, won the Nonprofit award.
Adria Moynihan Rusk, founder of Still Life Studio, won a Woman-Owned Small Business award.
Kim Ortengren, founder of Wallace James Clothing Co., won an Innovative Small Business award.
Steve Wimmer, founder of Sweden Street, won a Technology Small Business award.
Kristen and Joe Camp, founders of Campfire Studio, won the Young Entrepreneurs award.
Maddie Purcell, founder of Fyood Kitchen, won an Innovative Small Business award.
David Joseph, founder of DAVO Technologies, won a Technology Small Business award.

Chelsea Donahue joined MaineHealth’s Accountable Care Organization as a customer service representative for its Behavioral HealthCare Program.

 

Cori Holt joined MaineHealth’s From the First Tooth initiative as a program manager.

 

 

Marie Villanucci joined its Access to Care department as an insurance coverage case manager.

 

Kimberly Provencher was hired as a coverage team case manager for the Access to Care department.

 

Kira Spears joined the Access to Care department as a MedAccess screening specialist.

 

 

Sean Costigan joined MaineHealth’s Audit & Compliance Services as senior internal auditor.

 

 

Jennifer Marcoux joined the Center for Health Improvement as a health educator.

 

 

Paul Ridlon joined MaineHealth’s Accountable Care Organization as a business analyst.

 

 

Baxter Academy for Technology and Science hired Angela Atkinson Duina as principal of faculty and instruction. Most recently, she served as director of research, assessment and data in the central office of Portland Public Schools.

AWARDS and RECOGNITION

Tracy A. Davis of Urban Dwellings was recognized by the Interior Design Society as Designer of the Year in the whole home design category. The award acknowledged Davis’ work on a private residence in Cape Elizabeth, “Home by the Sea,” designed alongside Kripper Architects of Boston and built by Bowley Builders of Kennebunk. Davis’ work on the home included interior architectural design, finish details and exterior consultation.

Meadowmere Resort announced that it has received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for the third consecutive year and the sixth time overall.
The recognition accounts for the quality and quantity of reviews submitted by travelers over a 12-month period.
